My first reaction to this car was just a self-satisfied smugness that it's a replica of an antique classic - the 1935 Auburn Boat-tail Speedster. After a few shots, my brain actually began to function in a non-photographic way, and I realized that it might be a replica, but this replica was produced in 1980. So that makes this replica of an antique an antique itself!

Slightly older (I'm being VERY careful here) viewers may be interested to know that another replica like this was used in the old (!) Remington Steele detective series.

Yeah, I'm trying very hard not to step in it here.

I don't mind saying I'm old enough to remember Remington Steele (and Stephanie Zimbalist :-) ).

Awesome pic 100kt! :winner: I do believe that this is my favorite from among the pics I've seen you post. I can almost feel the warmth of the sunset reflecting on the paint.

Yes, it's just a wondrous thing to see. I added a link in the description for people who don't know what the whole thing looks like. It's not a compact, by any means. This beauty makes a statement wherever it is.

according to your profile, you're 99 years old, so I don't think many people will count as slightly older :)

:lol: No, that's not what I meant. I didn't mean older than me. That would make them senior citizens :rofl: Most of the folks on DA are in a demographic that would have been too young to remember a TV show that aired in the 80s, and if they watched it, they'd likely have been too young to think the Auburn 851 that appeared in the show was cool. I'm obviously not 99. I just thought it was a dumb field to fill in. People are either going to like my stuff or not, and my age is relatively irrelevant (to uh, coin a phrase). Now if DA was a social dating site, that would be different (and I'd be in the wrong place). :shrug: maybe I ought to have just left it blank.

oh ok, I did misunderstand :D But I knew you were joking about your age of course. Auburn Boattails are one of my favorite cars, and I'm only 21 :)
