In need of a warm beach scene

Description

This looks a bit out of place on a dreary day. It would have been a better shot on a beach someplace surrounded by pinup models. Then again most cars look better that way...

This is a first-generation Mercury Comet convertible, the 1963 model. 1963 was the first year that a convertible was offered.

The Comet was initially planned to debut as an Edsel model, but with the demise of that venture, it appeared on its own in 1960 with no ties to any Ford division and sold through Mercury dealerships. In Canada, it appeared as the Frontenac, but that only lasted one year before the Comet was firmly given a home in the Mercury line as their "compact" offering.

Beautiful predecessor to the Mustang :horns: perfect color for the year too. Seeing it makes me think of the pastel color beachfront homes and motor inns/motels of the 60s at Myrtle Beach, SC - the color also reminds me of the TV show "Flipper" for some reason :-)
