Third Generation

Car models tend to go through generations in their lives as models in a manufacturer's lineup. Some go for a long time, others don't last very long.

The Dodge Dart started as a full size car in its first generation, then it was a mid-size, and after that it was what they called a "compact". Of course, by previous standards, EVERYTHING now is a compact!

This 1964 Dart is from the compact years, though I remember them with bigger front bumpers. The next year, a sub-model of the Dart was the Dodge Dart Charger - the beginnings of the famous Charger line, but the year after that, it was no longer a Dart, but its own model.
